Municipal Court Warrants in Lonoke County
People still say municipal court, but Lonoke County cases now run through state district court. Amendment 80 folded the old municipal-court jurisdiction into district courts across Arkansas. Those departments take traffic violations, misdemeanors, city ordinances, preliminary felony proceedings, and some civil matters. Their judges issue failure-to-appear and nonpayment warrants on those cases. There is no separate public Lonoke municipal-warrant list. The record sits with the department that owns the citation. City police may serve a warrant issued after a missed ordinance setting. Still, only the court can change its legal status. The sheriff may see or serve an entered warrant too. Absence from a sheriff page proves nothing about a city-court warrant.
Why Lonoke Municipal Warrants Use District Courts
Names shift, and that trips people up. The Ward District Court explanation notes that Arkansas district courts were once called municipal courts. So when an old form or an old citation from Lonoke County says municipal court, that office still exists under a new name. Whatever the paperwork calls it, look to the district court for Austin, Cabot, Ward, Lonoke, England, or Carlisle rather than hunting for a closed city office.
In Lonoke County, a municipal court warrant is the everyday label for city traffic or ordinance process now run by district court. An FTA warrant means someone failed to appear. A failure-to-pay warrant follows unpaid court-ordered money. An alias bench warrant can issue after a missed setting in an open case.
Capias and capias pro fine are not labels the Lonoke County clerks use on ordinary public postings. Whatever wording appears on your paperwork, repeat it back to the issuing clerk exactly as written.
Which Cities Have Municipal Courts
Six staffed district court departments now do the local work that municipal courts once handled. Austin, Cabot, and Ward sit in northern Lonoke County; Lonoke, England, and Carlisle sit in the south. Before you call, confirm the department in the current state directory.

Northern Lonoke Municipal Warrant Routes
Austin, Cabot, and Ward make up the northern group of Lonoke County courts, and each handles the warrant question a bit differently. In Austin, citation payments go through the state system, but the court itself has to authorize that route first. Cabot's official FAQ is blunt: if you fail to enter a plea on each citation violation, the result can be an arrest warrant, and the FAQ sends you straight to the District Court Clerk. Cabot also lets the public inspect and copy district records during business hours, though retrieval time and fees apply. Ward is the clearest of the three. Its clerk's office collects fines and issues warrants for nonpayment or for failure to appear. The published hours run 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a noon-to-1:00 p.m. closure, and on normal Tuesday court days the office shuts at 11:30 a.m. until court wraps up. The pattern is plain. The court named on your citation, not the city police agency, decides where your first call goes.
How to Check a Municipal Court Warrant
Start with Search ARCourts, using a case number, a citation number, or a participant name. Filter by Lonoke County when the options allow, along with court location, case type, docket code, and date. The docket can surface an issue date, a failure to appear, a bond, service, a payment, or a recall event. Treat it as a lookup tool, not a complete warrant list or legal notice.
- Read the citation or notice and identify its exact district department.
- Search the public case docket for orientation.
- Call that department's clerk with the citation number, full name, birth date, and setting date.
- Request a specific nonexempt record if online information is incomplete.
- Call city police or the sheriff only for service or custody confirmation.
The sheriff's 24-hour line is (501) 676-3001. No public ACIC self-search exists, and ACIC or NCIC data cannot be obtained by FOIA.
Lonoke Municipal Warrants Start With Citations
Use the printed court name. A city address or arresting police agency does not necessarily identify the clerk who controls the warrant.
Check the court named on your notice. If it lists Austin, Cabot, Ward, Lonoke, England, or Carlisle, call that department. If older paperwork says municipal court, match its city against the current district directory. Planning documents also mention Allport and Humnoke, though neither has a separate staffed public desk. Route those names through the official directory or the Lonoke District Court contact instead of guessing. For a felony, a domestic-relations case, child support, or any other circuit matter, contact the Lonoke County Circuit Clerk at (501) 676-2316. Circuit records and district records sit with different offices in Lonoke County. Ask the wrong clerk and you may get a truthful "no record" that tells you nothing about the other court.
What a Municipal Court Warrant Shows
What a municipal court warrant record shows depends on what that Lonoke County court makes public. Confirm each field with the clerk rather than assuming any city list contains it.
| Case or citation number | The key connecting the ticket, docket, and warrant event. |
|---|---|
| Participant | The person named in the district case, verified by the clerk. |
| Court department | The Austin, Cabot, Ward, Lonoke, England, or Carlisle office controlling the case. |
| Underlying matter | Traffic, ordinance, misdemeanor, or preliminary felony process. |
| Warrant type | FTA, failure to pay, bench, alias, or arrest process as recorded. |
| Status | Issued, served, recalled, quashed, or another court-defined event. |
| Bond or amount | Current terms only when ordered and confirmed by the court. |
A Lonoke County public docket can still leave things out. New, sealed, restricted, or unindexed records may not appear, and juvenile material stays confidential.
Lonoke Municipal Warrant Service and Recall
Arkansas lets several officers serve process. Sheriffs, constables, jailers, marshals, and police officers all qualify. City police may serve papers tied to their own area, while the sheriff coordinates county service or custody. None of that shifts who controls recall. Only judicial action can erase a warrant, so a clerk or police employee cannot do it alone.
| Question | Best contact |
|---|---|
| Does the docket show an FTA? | Issuing district clerk |
| What payment or appearance is allowed? | Issuing district clerk or counsel |
| Has a judge recalled it? | Issuing court, then confirm transmission |
| Which agency holds or served it? | City police or Lonoke County Sheriff |
One mistake trips people up here. Paying a fine or talking with police does not prove the Lonoke County court entered a recall.
Resolving a Municipal Court Warrant
Call the clerk in the department that issued the warrant and ask what the judge allows. Options can include payment, a scheduled online plan, a new appearance, reinstatement, cash bond, a walk-in docket, or an attorney motion. All six staffed Lonoke County departments appear in the Arkansas scheduled-payment directory. Appearing there does not mean every warrant clears online, though. The portal itself warns that a missed payment can bring a warrant, a suspension, and added costs.
Confirm recall after compliance. Keep the receipt or order and ask when the updated status will reach city police and the sheriff.
A recall ends the warrant's immediate authority only as the order provides. It does not dismiss the citation or wipe out later settings. Afterward, check the new date, the remaining balance, and every condition the Lonoke County court imposed. Counsel earns their fee when surrender, bond, multiple cases, or an arrest condition is in play.
No Lonoke Municipal Warrant List
Lonoke County publishes no countywide municipal or district warrant list. The sheriff-linked roster covers people already in custody, so it misses unserved warrants. The sheriff's Hot Tips form takes crime information, but it neither searches nor confirms anything. Search ARCourts is a case portal, not a live warrant database.
Myth: “Not on the sheriff page” means no city warrant. Fact: district departments maintain their own cases, so confirmation must include the issuing clerk.
A dead end at one source is not the end of the search. Work down the list: the department clerk, the Circuit Clerk when the matter belongs in circuit court, a records request under the Arkansas FOIA, and the sheriff for service questions. The Most Wanted page explains why the county's public tip form is also not a warrant list. A written request works best when it names the department, the case or citation number, the approximate date, and the docket entry or document you want. Ward publishes a general FOIA route and allows up to three business days for a response, plus actual reproduction or mailing costs. Cabot separately describes inspection and copying of district-court records. Each office handles its own records, and access stays subject to exemptions, retrieval needs, and court rules. After the warrant is resolved, confirm more than a zero balance. Ask the Lonoke County clerk for the date the judge acted, whether the warrant was recalled or closed, when the update was transmitted, and the next required court date. Then check back with the department that held the case. Multiple citations can mean multiple files, so verify each case number on its own. Keep receipts and orders with the original notices until every clerk confirms the status.
